Counsel called to Eastern Caribbean Bar for costs dispute

Two well-known costs counsel at Kings Chambers, Paul Hughes and Craig Ralph, have been called to the Bar of the Supreme Court of the Eastern Caribbean, after being instructed to assist in costs disputes arising from the ongoing multi-billion dollar Emmerson v Renova litigation in the British Virgin Islands Commercial Court. The case concerns the fall-out from a joint venture involving interests in Russian energy companies.

They were called in a short ceremony conducted via Zoom and presided over by Madam Justice Vicki Ann Ellis from the Supreme Court in Tortola, in which both swore an oath to “well and faithfully demean” themselves in the performance of their duties.

Mr Hughes is instructed by Bedell Cristin and Mr Ralph by Walkers.
